A taxi driver's income depends on the number of orders, working hours, and rates - and from that revenue you still need to cover expenses such as fuel, maintenance, and of course the commission charged by taxi apps. Uber recently introduced a temporary change to its commission structure, so it's worth knowing the current rates.
Temporary Changes in Uber Commission
So what exactly has changed? First, keep in mind that these changes apply only to work through the Uber app - other platforms have their own separate commission rates.
- Drivers with a Polish driving license. If you have a Polish driving license uploaded to your driver profile, the app commission is 22% + 23% VAT, for a total of 27.06%. Remember that foreigners are required to exchange their license for a Polish one after six months of residence in Poland.
- Drivers with a license from another country. If you have a driving license from your home country uploaded instead, the app commission is 28% + 23% VAT, for a total of 34.44%.
If your average commission was already 22% (i.e., with a verified Polish driving license) or lower, nothing changes for you. If your commission ends up higher than your usual weekly average, Uber will refund the difference. This adjustment is temporary and applies from May 14, 2024 to June 16, 2024 across Poland.
